Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located? Do you come to us or do we come to you?
Daytime, evening and Saturday appointments are available in my home in Transcona. Due to the pandemic, I am no longer able to visit clients in their homes. However virtual appointments are offered for clients across Manitoba, provided that virtual therapy is suitable for the client and his/her communication needs.
Do you offer weekend appointments?
I offer appointments on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The office is closed on Sundays.
What is the length and frequency of appointments?
In-person appointments are typically scheduled for one hour. 45 minute appointments can be provided in person if appropriate. Virtual appointments can be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
The frequency of appointments may vary according to the needs of individual clients. Many of my clients meet with me once every two weeks; however options for weekly, monthly, or quarterly appointments are available if that best suits the situation.
What are your rates?
Session fees start at $60 for a 30-minute virtual session. Please contact me for complete details as there are several options available.
Do I need a doctor's referral to begin private speech therapy?
I do not require a doctor's referral but some insurance providers require this for reimbursement.
Do you direct bill to insurance companies?
No. I require payment from you via cash, cheque, or electronic fund transfer. Payment is due at the end of the appointment.
Upon receipt of payment, I will issue you a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company.
Can my child receive both public and private speech therapy services?
Yes. If your child is also receiving speech therapy through the health region or the school system, I would be happy to collaborate with the other speech-language pathologist or other professionals involved in his/her care.
What are your qualifications?
I am a registered Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (Full Regulated Member). I am a certified Speech-Language Pathologist with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada. I obtained my Master of Clinical Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology) in 2004. I have worked in various school divisions in Alberta and Manitoba since 2004 and have been a private practitioner in Manitoba since 2011.
